Explosive Device Found, Disarmed PDF Print

An explosive device was found Tuesday afternoon in Boone, the discovery made at approximately 4:15 PM as Boone Fire Department personnel were performing routine fire hydrant maintenance and observed a suspicious object lying near a fire hydrant on Lady Slipper Lane.  Boone Police, Fire, and the Wilkes County Sheriff's Office E.O.D. / Bomb Squad responded to the scene. Investigators determined that the object was a homemade explosive device, and the device was disarmed it and turned over to the bomb squad for disposal.  The investigation into this incident continues.
