At a press conference this afternoon, Appalachian Regional Healthcare received a major gift in their project for a new facility in Blowing Rock.  The gift of $125,000 comes from Wells Fargo, where the announcement was made, Wells Fargo Market President Jason Triplett telling the gathering why the bank wants to invest in the Appalachian Place at Chestnut Ridge project, “This is a special partnership, and we have a wonderful relationship with Appalachian Regional Healthcare System in a lot of ways. And we believe that Appalachian Regional Healthcare is a key economic driver in our community. Then Wells Fargo Regional President Leslie Hayes made the presentation of the check, saying, “We have a check for $125,000 to apply to this wonderful cause, and it is our pleasure to present this to the foundation, and let it be used for great things.” The gift comes, ironically, after a similar amount requested from Watauga County, was not funded in the 2013-14 budget passed Tuesday by the Watauga County Commission.  Work on the $20 million project is slated to start this summer with completion by the end of 2015.
