Fire Heavily Damages Deep Gap Home PDF Print

Firefighters from three counties responded to a house fire early Saturday morning in the Deep Gap Fire district. The call came in just before 4:30am at a home on Moretz Farm Road, just off US 221 near the Ashe line inside Watauga, with reports saying that the house had smoke and flames visible from an upper level. It appeared that all occupants of the two story house escaped the fire as Deep Gap, Fleetwood, Boone, Blowing Rock, Todd, Champion and other resources converged on the scene. Flames were seen shooting out of the roof at one end of the house, and a lot of fire, smoke, and water damage was evident. The Watauga Fire Marshal was called to the scene to assess the cause and damage, while the American Red Cross was called in to help the residents find shelter and deal with other needs.
