Two people were transported from an overturned SUV after a crash on East King Street at Forest Hills Drive late Thursday. The collision occurred just before 7pm with a 2002 red Volkswagen driven by Vivian Margaret Woodard of Purlear crossing East King on the red light, according to the Boone Police report, which said that at least one other vehicle had to swerve to miss her. The VW struck then struck the 1999 Ford SUV that Heidi Mae Volz of Mountain City was driving through the intersection at Forest Hills Drive, the impact causing the SUV to veer left toward the median, then overturn, skidding nearly 200 feet on its side and top as it flipped over.  The occupants, including a 14 and a 10-year old, were able to scramble from the vehicle, but two from the vehicle were taken to Watauga Medical Center by Watauga Medics, none of the injuries appeared severe.  Boone Police cited Woodard, 57, with Failure to Yield the Right of Way.
