Pictures from a video surveillance camera and tips to Crime Stoppers lead to the arrest of one larceny suspect. On 10/28/12 an employee of Rack Room Shoes reported that her cell phone had been stolen from the employee area at Rack Room. Surveillance footage showed a white male entering the back room and leave with the employees cell phone. Within hours of the image of the suspect appearing in our local media outlets last week, 5 tips came into High Country Crime Stoppers identifying the suspect as James Bridges Blanchard, age 38, of Boone. As a result Lieutenant Angel Mahaffey was able to recover the stolen phone (which had been sold) and secure a warrant for Blanchard’s arrest. Blanchard was arrested and has a court date scheduled for 12/20/12.
Another larceny reported at Wilco Hess November 1st has also been cleared by arrest with the aid of video surveillance. Teresa Wendy Shinn of Lenoir was identified as the suspect in this Larceny after returning to the store on Thursday night. The clerk recognized the woman as the suspect and called police. Chief Brown and Officer Deyton Turping were able to stop the vehicle shortly after it left the store. Shinn was in the vehicle and the officers were able to positively identify her as the suspect in the surveillance video. Shinn was arrested on a warrant for the larceny later in Lenoir. She was released on a unsecured bond and is awaiting trial.
