I AM HAPPY TO REPORT THAT THIS SWEET BOY HAS A FOREVER HOME WITH THE WONDERFUL FAMILY THAT SAVED HIS LIFE!!!

Hound dog found 7/3/10

Blueridge parkway/US 221 Lindville Falls

Hello,

We found a very sweet male hound dog about 2 years old (or younger) on the 3rd of July. He is obviously house trained and has a great personality. He had a collar but no tags were found. We took him to a vet and they said he was a little dehydrated and malnourished so he might have been missing for a few weeks. Please email me directly if you recognize our mutual friend. Thank you.

On July 3rd my wife and I witnessed a terrible incident where the dog in the photo attached was struck by a truck and the driver just drove off. We immediately went to aid the dog who was obviously seriously injured. Long story short we were directed by the police to take the hound to “Animal Emergency Clinic of the High Country” in Boone, NC.  He was diagnosed with a broken jaw and immediately was sedated and we opted to save the dog by having the doctor perform surgery. The doctor was able to reset the jaw and with medication the dog remained stable. We were then directed to take the hound to NC State University for further treatment.

We took our new friend to NC State last Saturday and they performed a series of tests and decided that the jaw needed additional surgery.  The surgery went well and we were able to pick up “Hank” from the hospital on Thursday. He was very tired but in the past day or so he is beginning to be more active and shows his personality more and more each day. He is a sweetie in almost every way, except for the fact that he does not like cats. The problem is we own three cats and our living situation is not very good right now keeping the two parties separated.

The search has honestly just begun and we are asking for you to post his photo and keep your ears and eyes open for his true owner. My wife and I have a lot vested in Hank and want to be sure he finds his home again. We live in Durham and have kept an eye on Craig’s list and Pet-finder for a post on him but have found nothing so far.
