David F. Sanders, age 71, of 2089 Silverstone Road, Zionville, passed away, Sunday afternoon, June 8, 2014.

David was born January 26, 1943 in Watauga County, a son of Beulah Cornett Sanders and the late Frank Robert Sanders. He was a retired employee of Watauga Wood Products and served in the United States Army during the Vietnam War. David was a loving husband and father. He loved his family and his grandchildren were his whole world.

In addition to his mother, David is survived by his wife, Brenda Fletcher Sanders of the home; two daughters, Tonnia Sanders and Sonya Gray and husband Mark, all of Zionville; one granddaughter, Tiffany Walls of Zionville; one grandson, Noah Gray of Zionville; four sisters, Aretta Carroll and husband Casey of Deep Gap, Lois Townsend of Morganton, Joyce Hartzog and husband Basil of West Jefferson, and Lori Candler of Zionville, and one brother, Johnny Sanders and wife Debbie of Zionville. He is also survived by a number of aunts, uncles, nieces and nephews.

In addition to his father, he was preceded in death by one brother, Larry Sanders.

Funeral services for David F. Sanders will be conducted Wednesday afternoon, June 11, 2014, at 2:00 o'clock, at Pleasant Grove Baptist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 12:30 until 2:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Reverend Allen Perry and Reverend Herbert McCoy. Military graveside rites and burial, provided by American Legion Post 130 and Disabled American Veterans Chapter 90, will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Wednesday afternoon, from 12:30 until 2:00 o'clock, at the church, prior to the service. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 2089 Silverstone Road, Zionville.
