Dorothy Tolbert Price, 88, of Blowing Rock, passed away Saturday morning, May 17th, 2014, at the Davant Rehab & Extended Care Facility.
Born December 20, 1925 in Watauga County, she was a daughter of Lank and Irene Hartley Tolbert. Mrs. Price was a member of Central Baptist Church. Dorothy's love was her family, her joy was sharing her baked cakes and pastries, and her favorite pastime was planting and tending her tulip beds.
Mrs. Price is survived by her daughter, Ruth Price Phillips of Boone; two grandsons, Scott Phillips and wife, Roxanne, of Jefferson, and Todd Phillips and wife, Carrie, of Boone; four great-grandchildren, Bradley Peters, and Brandon, Chase, and Chance Phillips; brother, Don Tolbert and wife, Janice, of Blowing Rock; and three sisters, Mary Dacus of Massachusetts, Shirley Edmisten and husband, Baxter, of Blowing Rock, and Louise Hood of Virginia.
She was preceded in death by her husband of 60 years, Charlie William Price; two sisters, Mozelle Ford and Edna Harmon; two brothers, Edward and Owen Tolbert; and her parents.
Funeral services will be conducted Monday, May 19th, at 3 PM, at the Austin & Barnes Funeral Home Chapel, officiated by Rev. Vance Triplett and Pastor Gordon Noble. The family will receive friends Monday from 2 until 3 PM, prior to services, at Austin & Barnes. Burial will follow at Woodlawn Cemetery in Blowing Rock.
