Mrs. Beulah "Boots" Hampton Southerland, age 86, of Winston-Salem, went to heaven Wednesday, February 26, 2014 at Forsyth Medical Center.

She was born July 15, 1927 in Boone, the daughter of Russell and Fannie Herman Hampton. She was a member of Beck's Baptist Church and taught many Children's Choirs at various churches in the area. A person who played and taught the piano professionally, Boots traveled and sang both on the radio and in concerts with her sisters when she was younger in Boone. She used her knowledge that she learned from growing up on a farm to garden, cook and minister to many by cooking for those who were in need. Boots always enjoyed being around her family and friends.

Mrs. Beulah "Boots" Hampton Southerland is survived by two daughters, Dee Wood and husband Larry of Clemmons, Betty Williams and husband Darrell of Winston-Salem, a son; Larry Keith Southerland and wife Elaine of Winston-Salem; a sister, Verdola Cook and husband Gary Morgan of Boone; four grandchildren, Robert Hudspeth of Boone, David Hudspeth of Winston-Salem, Dean Williams of Rosewell, Georgia and Susan Connolly of Dayton, Ohio; three great-grandchildren, Emma Hudspeth, Jackson Hudspeth and Zachary Williams. She is also survived by many nieces, nephews and friends.

She was preceded in death by her father & mother; Russell and Fannie Herman Hampton, her husband; Willard Southerland; her two sisters, Dawn Shepherd and Mabel "Beth" Trivett, and two brothers; J.R. Hampton and Wendell Carroll Hampton.

Funeral services for Mrs. Beulah "Boots" Hampton Southerland will be conducted Saturday, March 1, 2014 at 2:30 at Beck's Baptist Church. Officiating will be the Reverend Dr. Karl Ray Minor. Burial will follow in Forsyth Memorial Park.

The family will receive friends Friday, February 28, from 6:00 until 8:00 at Frank Vogler and Sons, Reynolda Chapel, 2951 Reynolda Road, Winston-Salem, NC.

Memorial contributions may be made to Beck's Baptist Church, 5505 Beck's Church Road, Winston-Salem, NC 27106.
