Mrs. Jettie Marelle Ward Shull, age 93, of Boone, died Monday, January 13, 2014, at her home.
Mrs. Shull was born November 20, 1920 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Lorenzo Dow Ward and Belva Lockwood Cook Ward. She was a retired employee of IRC/TRW in Boone, and a member of Faith Baptist Church.
Mrs. Shull is survived by one son, Reverend Jerry William Shull and wife Gladys of Boone; four daughters, Gloria Parlier, Maxie Lee Franklin and husband J.D, Nancy Berry, and Patricia "Pat" Shore, all of Boone; four grandsons, Danny Shull and wife Marcie, and Robert "Robbie" Berry, Jr., all of Boone, Phillip Wayne Berry and wife Christy of Maiden, and Joey Shore of Boone; one adopted grandson, Michael Hughes of Boone; four granddaughters, Lynn Isaacs and husband Kenny, Kelly Gibson and her friend Randy Yates, Joanna Marelle Shore and fiance, Mark Kirkpatrick, and Elleshia Franklin and fiance, Rodger Hicks, all of Boone; two step-granddaughters, three step-grandchildren, and one sister-in-law, Mattie Rominger of Sugar Grove. She is also survived by eight great-grandchildren, one great great-grandchild, and a number of nieces and nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Fred Shull; one son, Phil Shull; an infant son, Billy; one grandson, Ellis Ray Parlier; one great-grandson, William Lee Gibson; four brothers, Howard, Dewey, Gibson, and Carl Ward; one sister, Cleo Ward Shull; two sons-in-law, Robert "Bobby" Dean Berry, Sr. and James Sanders Shore, Sr., and a number of brothers and sisters-in-law.
Funeral services for Mrs. Jettie Marelle Ward Shull will be conducted Saturday afternoon, January 18, 2014, at 1:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 12:00 until 1:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Reverend Ray Greene and Reverend Jerry Shull. Burial will follow in Mount Lawn Memorial Park and Gardens.
The family will receive friends Friday evening, from 7:00 until 9:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Service. At other times, friends may call at the residence, 139 Winter Drive, Lot 34, Boone.
