Willard Lail, age 79, of Robin Street, Connelly Springs, passed away Tuesday, December 10, 2013, at Valdese General Hospital in Valdese.

Willard was born November 1, 1934 in Burke County, a son of the late Ace Peter Lail and Pauline Pruitt Lail. He was a retired mechanic for Carolina Container.

Willard is survived by five daughters, Lynnette Bollinger and husband Derek, and Heather Huffman, all of Connelly Springs, Krista Smith Ruiz and husband Oscar of Hammond, Louisiana, Judy Lail, and Anita Branch; one son, Randy Lail; one sister, Lottie Mae Buff of Caser, North Carolina; two brothers-in-law, James Joe Perry and wife Barbara of Zionville, and Keith Perry and wife Lindel of Boone, and three sisters-in-law, Myrtle Calhoun and husband Chester of Raleigh, Marsha Thomas and husband William of Zionville, and Joanne Perry of Black Mountain. He is also survived by eight grandchildren and a number of nieces and nephews.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by his wife, Theda Perry Lail; two sons, Larry Laney Lail and Andrew Bryan Jenkins; one granddaughter, McKenzie Bollinger, and one brother, William Odell Perry.

Funeral services for Willard Lail will be conducted Saturday afternoon, December 14, 2013, at 2:00 o'clock, at Hampton Funeral Home Chapel. The body will lie in state, at the chapel, from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Reverend Joel Cook and Reverend Mike Webb. Burial will follow in Pleasant Grove Baptist Church Cemetery.

The family will receive friends Saturday afternoon, from 1:00 until 2:00 o'clock, at the funeral home, prior to the service.
