Mr. Seymour "Butch" Gardner Healy, age 81, of Beaver Horn Ranch Road, Vilas, and formerly of Middletown, New York, died Thursday, August 1, at Watauga Medical Center.

Mr. Gardner was born to the late Russell Seymour and Elise Gardner Healy. Butch served 33 years in the Army National Guard, retiring as a Staff Sergeant. He was a past member of the Circleville NY Fire Department and a member of the NYS Fire Warden Association.

Butch had a big family and they always came first. He would do anything for family. He liked to play Lincoln logs with his grandchildren and pretend that it was his own log cabin. He enjoyed spending time with his children, and going hunting and fishing. In his spare time, he liked to read books while having a cocktail. His memory will live on in the hearts and minds of his family forever.

Mr. Gardner is survived by his wife, Martha, of the home; five sons: Daniel and wife Karen of Slate Hill, NY; Bruce, Stephen, Charles and fiancée Lisa, and Gordon and fiancée Lynn all of Middletown, NY; two daughters: Donna of Middletown, NY and Carol of NC; and two brothers: George and wife Margaret, and Robert of NC. Twelve grandchildren and eight great grandchildren also survive.

In addition to his parents, he was preceded in death by a grandson, Robbie, and a favorite pet, his dog, Gizmo.

Funeral services for Mr. Seymour "Butch" Gardner Healy will be conducted Monday, August 5th, 2013, at 11:00 o'clock from the chapel of Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home in Middletown, NY. Burial will follow in the Circleville Cemetery.

The family will receive friends from 2:00 until 4:00 and from 7:00 until 9:00 Sunday, August 4th at Applebee-McPhillips Funeral Home.
