Joyce Weaver Holder, age 89, of 1602 Friendship Church Road, Boone, passed away Sunday, June 9, 2013, at her home.
Mrs. Holder was born May 2, 1924 in Watauga County, a daughter of the late Elzie and Grace Church Weaver. She was a homemaker and a member of Laurel Fork Baptist Church.
Mrs. Holder is survived by two daughters, Darlene Holder of Boone, and Betty Ruth Holder Hudgins of Charlotte; one son, Frank Holder and wife Angela of Concord; five granddaughters, Tish Harman DeLuca of Charlotte, Katie Holder, Krissie Holder, Kelsie Holder, and Kellie Holder, all of Concord; one grandson, Robbie Holder of Concord; four great-grandsons, Nicolas DeLuca, Max DeLuca, Sam DeLuca, and Jack Deluca, all of Charlotte; five brothers, Johnnie E. Weaver of Verndale, Minnesota, William Weaver of Vilas, Squire E. Weaver, Jr., Roby F. Weaver and wife Margaret, and Roy Weaver and wife Pat, all of Boone, and three sisters, Lois Triplett, Doris W. Greer and husband Richard, and Louise W. Davis, all of Boone. She is also survived by a number of nieces, nephews, great-nieces, and great-nephews.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her husband, Robert Holder.
Funeral services for Joyce Weaver Holder will be conducted Wednesday morning, June 12, 2013, at 11:00 o'clock, at Friendship United Methodist Church. The body will lie in state, at the church, from 10:00 until 11:00 o'clock. Officiating will be Reverend Max West and Reverend Steve Bass. Burial will follow in Friendship United Methodist Church Cemetery.
The family will receive friends following the service and burial, at the family home, beside of the church.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to the American Heart Association, Mid-Atlantic Affiliate, 4217 Park Place Court, Glen Allen, Virginia, 23060.
