Born in Charlotte, North Carolina to Susie and Howard B. Wentz. Helen spent her early years in Albemarle, North Carolina, and graduated from Virginia Intermont College. She married George Schulz, a Naval Officer and later Circuit Court Judge, in Miami, Florida in 1943. After 48 years of marriage, George passed away. In 1992 Helen married Buell Duncan who, along with his wife Elizabeth, were neighbors and long-time friends of the family. Elizabeth had passed away some years previously. Buell and Helen resided in Orlando, Florida and Blowing Rock. Helen spent summers in Blowing Rock for 20 years before settling permanently in 1976. Helen loved Blowing Rock and was very active in community affairs. She was a long-time member and director of Blowing Rock Country Club, board member of the Blowing Rock Hospital and member of St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church. She will be missed by her many bridge and golf friends and family.

She is survived by her three children: Sheran Reich (Paul) of Winter Park, Florida, Buddy Schulz (Mary Lou) and Marty Schulz, both of Jacksonville, Florida; three grandchildren: Lynn Brooks Howle, Jr. (Dana), Kathryn Helen Ches (Jeremy), and Elizabeth Sawyer (John), and four great-grandchildren.

A memorial service will be held on June 14th at 11:00 a.m. at St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church in Blowing Rock. Officiating will be Father Rick Lawler.

The family will receive friends, at a reception following the service, at the church.

Memorials may be given in memory of Helen to St. Mary of the Hills Episcopal Church or the charity of your choice.
