Man Airlifted After Zionville Explosion, Fire

A Zionville man was airlifted from near the scene of an explosion and fire last night, an incident under investigation of the Watauga Sheriff’s Office. Body Found in Vehicle in Watauga Lake

Tennessee authorities are investigating the discovery of a vehicle in the waters of Watauga Lake, at least one person dead inside.  WJHL TV is reporting that the discovery of the car came last night  in Johnson County, and they say that the Tennessee Highway Patrol is the investigating agency. Two Teens Dead, Two Hurt in Saturday Crash

Two teens were dead at the scene of a crash in Wilkes County from early Saturday, two others injured, according to the NC State Patrol.  Trooper J.R. Hall of the N.C. Spring Storm 2: High Wind, Snow, Outages

Snow, rain freezing on the pavement and high winds hit the High Country late last night, toppling trees and taking out power.  Area law enforcement reported that rain froze on the roadways, then was hit with anywhere from a trace to several inches of snow, making for treacherous travel. US Forest Service to Burn 2,365 Acres

This may be a day of area fire departments chasing smoke reports as the U.S. Forest Service plans to conduct a prescribed burn in the Grandfather Ranger District of the Pisgah National Forest today. High Country Housing Sales Strong for 2014

There’s more good economic news to start of the new year for local Realtors®, with home sales hitting a six-year high. There were 163 Realtor®-assisted sales recorded in the first two months of 2014, an increase of 11 percent over  2013, and up 36 percent compared to 2012. Full Story
