Quick Response Saves Newland Home

Fire last night damaged a Newland home, but a fast response from a number of Avery Fire departments minimized the loss. Demetre Kostis had a pretty productive day on Friday at the Class 4A State Wrestling Championships in Greensboro, N.C. The Watauga High advanced to the state finals by knocking off Kollin Wade (43-4) of Cary 5-4 in the 132 pound weight class in the state semifinals.
