A 76-year-old was the victim of purse theft.

Wilkes County’s Attaree Billings was getting out of her car when she noticed an unfamiliar car at the top of her driveway. The man approached, claiming to have car trouble, and asked to use a phone. After Billings told the man she did not have a phone, he grabbed her purse and left in a dark colored vehicle. Billings lost her keys in the struggle and had to walk some distance to a friend’s house to phone help. A little cash, her ID, and credit cards were in the purse. The attacker is described as a white man, 6 feet tall, 160 pounds, slim build with neatly cut short brown hair. He was wearing a yellow plaid shirt and faded jeans. Anyone with information is encouraged to contact local law enforcement.
