Dr. Bobbie Short, the Watauga County Schools Superintendent, has been named Regional Superintendent of the Year by the Northwest Regional Educational Services Alliance.

Dr. Short was selected for the honor on a unanimous vote by the Superintendent’s Council of NWRESA.

The Executive Director of the NWRESA, Dr. Joseph Sinclair said Dr. Short is “a superintendent who is highly respected throughout the region.”  The Watauga County Schools Superintendent has made the short list of eight nominees being considered for the honor of the North Carolina Superintendent of the Year.

Dr. Short has served as Superintendent of the Watauga County Schools for five years, while being active in many professional and community service organizations.  Dr. Short announced in December that she will be retiring effective June 30th.
