It’s been years in the making, but Watauga may be one step closer to a new high school.

Last night Watauga Commissioners met with school board members to discuss plans for the school. Jennifer Sisak of SFLA architecture firm was on hand to present building plans. The plans include a soccer field, baseball field, stadium, access from Old N.C. 421, and 972 parking spaces so far. What about the estimated 19 graves currently on the site? According to Sisak they will, “disinter the graves treating them with a great deal with respect and inter them at an appropriate site.”  Commissioners and Board members gave their unanimous approval to the site plan and building layout. The next meeting to discuss the new high school will be May 23 at 6 p.m. at the Watauga High School auditorium.
