At approximately 4:40 this morning, Boone police officers responded to the Kangaroo Express on West King Street in reference to a possible assault. Three customers had entered the store and did not see the clerk. According to Captain William Greene, the clerk was outside the building near the dumpster with her clothes in disarray, very disoriented.

The last thing the clerk could remember was mopping the floor.

The unidentified clerk was transported by ambulance to Watauga Medical Center and was treated and released. Police still do not have a clear idea of what happened. According to Greene, there was no attempt at a robbery. The investigation is ongoing and police urge anyone with any information to contact them at 828-262-4500.
