A change was officially announced yesterday for Grandfather Home for Children with the pending retirement of Jim Swinkola, CEO for the past 31 years at the Banner Elk ministry.  The Grandfather Home board announced that Dr. Brenda White-Wright would take over Chief Executive duties as interim CEO January 1st—the opening of the 101st year of the ministry which started in 1914. Swinkola spoke at the meeting of staff yesterday, staff from the four remote campuses joined by video conference, as he told of the successes made possible by all the staff, “By the grace of God, not only have you cared—and your counterparts—for children over the last three decades, and you have built buildings, and you have enhanced programming, but you have also grown with me the financial stability of this ministry over the last three decades at a million dollars a year .  And I give thanks to God for that because I will tell you that without money, there is no ministry.”
