A man suffered a serious head injury working on a building at Chetola Resort this morning.  The call came in just after 10am, that the man had fallen outside, first report saying he fell 20 feet, secondary reports putting the fall at a greater distance.  Blowing Rock Fire rushed to the scene to join Watauga Medics in transporting the man to Davant Field where they met a Med Center Air chopper from Carolinas Medical Center. Blowing Rock Fire officials say it appeared the victim was a man in his 20’s, unconscious when they first arrived, but indications were that he regained consciousness before being airlifted. It was not clear just what work the man was doing at the resort, but that he was not an employee of Chetola.  NC Department of Labor officials said they had not been contacted by anyone about the incident, and would not unless the incident proved fatal or involved more than three injured people.
