Fire destroyed a structure used by a construction business in the Cove Creek area Tuesday night, a blaze battled by three departments and punctuated by chemicals igniting.  The call came in just before 8pm, a building at 1626 NC 194 South on fire, a building where Adam Blake stored materials for his work. Arriving first units from Cove Creek reported the building fully involved in flames, with Foscoe and Boone units soon joining the firefighting effort, Boone adding a five man crew along with a tanker, and, in spite of occasional chemical flare-ups, firefighters managed to knock down the blaze in about 30 minutes. Cove Creek officials said that the blaze seemed to start in the chimney area and are blaming the fire on a faulty flue.  Watauga Rescue, Watauga Medics, the Watauga Sheriff’s Office and State Patrol all played parts in the effort, with BREMCO called in to deal with power issues.
