High Point Poll Shows Leaders Below 50 PercentHIGH POINT – A new High Point University Poll finds that 42 percent of North Carolina residents approve of President Barack Obama and 38 percent approve of Gov. Pat McCrory’s job performance. Meanwhile, U.S. Senator Kay Hagan has a job approval rate of 32 percent.
Governor McCrory Takes A Trip To The Zoo
ASHEBORO -- Governor Pat McCrory visited the North Carolina Zoo Monday, to learn more about one of the largest zoos in the country. “The zoo is one of North Carolina’s top tourist attractions,” Governor McCrory said in a press release. “It is an outstanding recreational and educational resource for our citizens and those visiting North Carolina, and also provides a boost to the local economy."
Government Shutdown Impacts NC Tourism
RALEIGH -- The government shutdown has thrown a wrench in the tourism market across the country, as all federally-owned parks have been closed, while state-run parks continue to operate. Witt Tuttle is the Director of Tourism and Marketing with the NC Commerce Department and he says that the fall is usually a peak season for tourism.
Officials: Safety First For Hunting Season
RALEIGH -- Hunting is a one of the favorite pastimes in North Carolina, and it is the season once again for hunters to don their blaze orange and trek into the woods on these cool fall mornings. While we are heading into muzzleloader season, it is important to not forget about regulations while you are bow hunting, according to Geoff Cantrell of the North Carolina Wildlife Resources Commission.
