LENOIR (WJRI) Caldwell County Emergency Services will be testing the new flood warning system on Wilson Creek this week. The test will last for three minutes and all 5 sirens will be tested on Wednesday at Noon. The sirens were constructed between the Brown Mountain Beach

Campground and Edgemont Baptist Church. Officials say that outside of the testing, the sirens will only be set off in the event of a flash flood or tornado warning and will not be set off during watch situations.

HICKORY (WKVS) A fourth fast food restaurant has been robbed in Hickory. The Wendys Restaurant on 16th St. NE was robbed around 2am on Friday. The robber is said to have displayed a gun during the robbery. This robbery is thought to be similar to three others over the last in the last few weeks. The suspect is described as a white male, between 5 feet 7 inches and 6 foot, tall weighing around 150 pounds. Police say the suspect wears all black clothing and wears a black or camouflage bandana over his face. If you have information in these robberies, contact Hickory Police at 828-328-5551.

CONNELLY SPRINGS (WKVS) The Burke County Fire Investigator tells the Morganton News Herald that the cause of a deadly fire in Connelly Springs last week is still unknown. The fire killed two children and injured others. The investigation is still ongoing and the names of the victims will not been released until the medical examiners office positively identifies them.

HICKORY (WKVS) Hickory Police arrested a man early yesterday morning after he wrecked his car after allegedly trying to run from them. 20-year-old Jesus Rivera Chavez was charged with felony speeding to elude arrest, misdemeanor driving while impaired, and driving with a revoked license. Police spotted the vehicle that Chavez was driving when they responded to a fight outside a bar on 1st Ave. NW. Responding officers said that the vehicle drove toward them and then turned around suspiciously.

TAYLORSVILLE (WKVS) Nine people were arrested in Alexander County last Thursday after 3 search warrants were served by the Alexander County Sheriffs Department. The suspects are men and women and the ages range from 24-53. 15 firearms were said to be confiscated as well as marijuana.
