The suspect in the early morning murder of an Ashe County woman is in custody, and has been taken to the Ashe Sheriff’s Department for processing. 30-year old Jacob Edwin Johnson was arrested just after 10 this morning about two miles from the scene of the murder, a murder that occurred in the roadway on NC Highway 88 east.  Miranda Wiles, 29, was killed in what originally looked like a pedestrian incident, but it soon became more evident that her death was not accidental, and the State Patrol sent a reconstruction team to the scene.  With that, NC 88 was closed from Sheets Bridge on NC 16 to Peak Creek Road.  Sheriff Williams said that bigger rigs had to be turned around from the Alleghany Side at 88 and NC 18.
