Appalachian State University Police are still looking for a man they believe is responsible for the armed theft of three wallets Monday.

At approximately 9 pm. Monday, a black male in his mid 20s wearing a ski mask jumped in front of a car leaving the Greenwood Parking lot. The suspect was wielding a silver colored handgun. Five male students were in the vehicle and three of them surrendered their wallets to the suspect, who then fled on foot. ASU Police and Boone Police officers searched the woods following the robbery and recovered one wallet, as well as a broken silver colored air-soft pistol.

Extra patrols have been assigned to the area, Chief Gunther Doerr says. In the meantime, anyone with information is urged to contact Crimestoppers at 828-262-4555.

The incident is the first armed robbery reported on campus since 2002.
