Armed Robbery at ASU PDF Print
Tuesday, 02 October 2007 09:39

An armed robbery has Appalachian University Police on extra alert- in fact, it’s the first armed robbery reported on campus since 2002.

At approximately 9 pm. last night, a black male in his mid 20s wearing a ski mask jumped in front of a car wielding a silver colored handgun. Five male students were in the vehicle, leaving the Greenwood Parking Lot, and three of them surrendered their wallets to the suspect, who then fled on foot. ASU Police and Boone Police officers searched the woods following the robbery and recovered one wallet, as well as a broken silver colored air-soft pistol. No injuries were reported, and ASU is taking steps to make sure it doesn’t happen again, Chief Gunther Doerr says.

Extra patrols were on last night, he says- and his department is actively investigating the incident.

Anyone with information is urged to call Crimestoppers at 828-262-4555.
