J’s Market break-in- Case Closed PDF Print
Tuesday, 02 October 2007 07:01

The Avery County Sheriff’s Office says they know who’s responsible for a July break-in at J’s Market on Highway 19E in Elk Park.

In fact, he’s already in custody. 19-year-old Leland Penfield is alleged to have stolen various items, including cigarettes, food and knives. While many of the knives are still missing, most everything else has been recovered, Sheriff Kevin Frye says.

Penfield, from Newland, was charged with felony breaking and entering and larceny. Penfield was convicted of those charges, as well as various others, in court this week, and, according to Frye, is already serving his sentence at an Avery detention facility.
