Deck Hill leak- No longer an issue, Mayor says PDF Print
Thursday, 20 September 2007 19:39

After hearing a paid advertisement on the radio put on by Political Action Committee Citizens for Change, Boone town officials were sent to investigate the Deck Hill Water Tank for a possible leak.

img_0951_small.jpgA water sample taken from the overflow indicated a small amount of chlorine and fluoride in the water, which indicated a leak from the Town water system. It was addressed, Mayor Loretta Clawson says, and is a dead issue, since the leak has been stopped.

Divers entered the tank to investigate last week and a temporary fix was installed. A more permanent solution is on the agenda.

Citizens for Change Chair Jeff Templeton fears the town administration is making light of a serious issue. By his own measurements, he says 3 gallons of water a minute were wasted because of the leak. Clawson says the leak was so insignificant it failed to register, and with the leak fixed, there’s no issue.
