Google announced yesterday it’s preparing to construct
a second building on its 220-acre site in Lenoir.
The $600 million data center
should house about 200 employees, as well as the equipment that powers Google’s
services and products. The shell of the first data center building, which broke
ground in January, is largely complete, officials say. Approximately 200
construction workers continue to work on the building’s complex infrastructure.
Both structures are slated to be operational in the spring of 2008. For more
