Drivers lose a week a year PDF Print
Wednesday, 19 September 2007 19:00
Nearly an entire workweek each year is lost sitting in traffic on the way to and from work, a national study says.
The study, released Tuesday, showed that drivers nationwide waited in traffic delays for a total of 4.2 billion hours in 2005. That’s about 38 hours per driver. Additionally, the study finds that drivers wasted 2.9 billion gallons of fuel while sitting in traffic. Together, with lost time and fuel, traffic delays cost the nation an estimated $78.2 billion a year.
