Despite his personal involvement in Political Action Committee Citizens for Change, local republican activist David Blust says he’s not “running for anything.”
Earlier this week, Blust’s name was mentioned at the ASU Municipal Candidates Forum- several times by candidates like incumbent Mayor Loretta Clawson.
Clawson recalled Blust saying ASU students shouldn't be allowed to vote in local elections.
Blust did not deny saying that- but said he has nothing against student voters.
“I’ve registered a lot of college students to vote for this election. I think it’s great that they can vote,” he said.
“I asked some questions when I was running and made them think a little bit, but I can’t stop them from voting, it’s the law, it’s state law.”
Despite being endorsed by Citizens for Change, Mayoral candidate Tim Wilson, as well as Council incumbent Dempsey Wilcox and Council candidates Ethan Dodson and Stephen Phillips say they have received no money from the PAC. However, the PAC has advertised for all three candidates.
Blust's name was not mentioned at last night's forum.
