Blaze destroys 1974 Fiat, arson suspected PDF Print
Thursday, 13 September 2007 08:54
A two-car garage caught fire in Lenoir today.
When firefighters arrived on scene just after noon, the garage was already fully engaged. According to Public Information Officer Sam Smith with Lenoir Fire Department, the garage was on North Creek Drive in the Lower Creek section of town. The garage’s owner, Silvio Martinat, was storing a 1974 Fiat, as well as a 1961 Cub Cadet lawn mower in the facility. Both were completely destroyed in the blaze. Smith estimates the damage to be in excess of $20,000. A cause has yet to be determined, but, since the building did not have power, authorities are investigating arson as a possibility.
