Cops seek Copper PDF Print
Tuesday, 28 August 2007 20:00

Earlier this month, Joshua Jenkins was arrested under suspicion of stealing copper.

While deputies hoped that would put an end to the copper thefts plaguing Caldwell County over the past two months- the thefts continued, even as Jenkins was incarcerated. Statements from the Caldwell County Sheriff’s Office suggest that several culprits could be stealing the copper- and businesses are urged to be on extra alert. Always record the serial numbers on your heat pump. That way, it can be identified. Caldwell deputies also encourage residents to pay attention. If you see anyone hauling a heat pump, it never hurts to be paranoid. Sheriff’s deputies say call law enforcement and report the tag numbers- just in case.

As many as 15 businesses have been victims of copper theft in the past two months in Caldwell County. The most recent hits were over the weekend when heat pumps were allegedly stolen from Center Groves Baptist Church and Elite Cushions.
