Firefighters respond to Bio-diesel plant PDF Print
Sunday, 26 August 2007 20:00

A fire call at 3 p.m. had Lenoir firefighters busy Saturday.

Smoke was reported at the Foothills Bio-Energies plant on Virginia Street in Lenoir. Firefighters arrived to find a storage area behind the plant- fully engaged in flames. The area housed tanks of poultry fat and soybean oil the plant processes into bio-diesel fuel.  No one was injured in the blaze- and no one was in the building when the fire broke out.  The scene was cleared by 8 p.m. and early estimates put the damage at approximately $200,000.
