Firefighters respond to Bio-diesel plant PDF Print

A fire call at 3 p.m. had Lenoir firefighters busy Saturday. 

Smoke was reported at the Foothills Bio-Energies plant on Virginia Street in Lenoir. Firefighters arrived to find a storage area behind the plant- fully engaged in flames. The area housed tanks of poultry fat and soybean oil the plant processes into bio-diesel fuel.  No one was injured in the blaze- and no one was in the building when the fire broke out.  The scene was cleared by 8 p.m. and early estimates put the damage at approximately $200,000.
