Car break-ins: Tips on how not to be a victim PDF Print
Wednesday, 22 August 2007 20:00

Boone Police Detective Jim Wilson is investigating a string of car break-ins in Boone, and advises citizens to take steps to avoid theft.

ALWAYS lock car doors, he says, and keep valuables either out of the vehicle or out of sight.

Don’t leave mail in the seats either, and make sure not to leave valuables in the back of a pickup, he says- and if you only listen to one piece of advice, please, lock cars, he urges.

Car break-ins do happen in the High Country- and locking your door is an easy way to prevent crime.

Wilson’s advice comes after three car break-ins were reported in three separate areas of the Boone community last week. Wilson says the investigation is still ongoing, and the possibility of the break-ins being connected has not been ruled out.
