Sunday, 19 August 2007 20:00

It was a smooth transition for Appalachian State University on Friday.

Parents and freshmen had a lot of help- including Chris Popoola from ASU staff council, who said there were hardly any problems..

ROTC volunteers like Lindsey Blair had an important job- directing traffic. .

Blair is a returning volunteer, and says the move-in was even better this year. What did the parents think of ASU’s move-in?

They thought it was more organized than other North Carolina universities- in fact, all parents we talked to were impressed.

Winston Salem’s Teresa Mitchell, an ASU alumni has been through this before with another daughter, and has some words of advice for parents sending kids to college for the first time.

Just let go, she says.

All-in-all, while move-in was an all day event at ASU- most parents and kids said it took less than a half hour to get the stuff from the cars to the kids’ new homes at ASU.
