Last week, the Boone Town Council approved the creation of a new action committee, all about responsible pet ownership.
Mayor Loretta Clawson came up with the idea with the Humane Society’s help.
Ordinances in other areas, such as Buncome County and Winston Salem, will be looked at, Clawson says.
In particular, the committee will address concerns about the cat population.
Too many cats are being put to sleep, Clawson says.
Clawson is excited about what the committee could do for the Boone community. Animal issues are causes that hit close to home.
