Congressman tours district PDF Print
Tuesday, 14 August 2007 20:00

Congressman Patrick McHenry continued his district tour yesterday.

He began by attending the Avery-Banner Elk Chamber of Commerce breakfast, giving what Avery County Sheriff Kevin Frye called “an inspiring speech.”

McHenry called his time out of Washington “invaluable,” saying, “It’s a time when I get to be at home for a whole month to actually go to every county in the district and actually just talk to people.”

It’s also invaluable to constituents like Frye, who has publicly endorsed McHenry.

Frye says McHenry is an employee of the people- and is pleased that he takes the time to check in with his constituents.

Frye says McHenry has been good to local law enforcement on a federal level, and expects more from McHenry in the coming months, especially where immigration is concerned.

McHenry also traveled to Spruce Pine and assessed the arson damage from a blaze that gutted downtown earlier this month.
