Mattel CEO apologizes for recall PDF Print
Tuesday, 14 August 2007 20:00
The CEO of Mattel Inc. said yesterday his company has “rigorous standards,” despite two massive recalls of toys due to magnets and lead paint.
Bob Eckhert says Mattel discovered the need for a second recall while investigating the first incident. Eckhert apologized to those affected by the recalls. While the earlier recall covered 1.5 million Fisher-Price toys, this recall involves 9 million toys. Toys affected were produced between May 2003 and November 2006. The toys were produced in China. According to Mattel officials, Chinese manufacturers are coming to Washington D.C. this fall for product safety training sessions.
