Apartment evacuated; man with a gun PDF Print

Local law enforcement responded in droves to an incident just before nine p.m. last night in Watauga County.

Watauga County sheriff’s deputies and Boone Police officers responded to a report of a man with a gun at an apartment on Long Street. Upon arrival, officers found the man to be in possession of two guns: a long rifle and a pellet gun. Police evacuated the 115 Long Street apartment. Details on the incident are still coming in, but police believe it to have been a possible suicide attempt. According to Det. Dee Dee Rominger, at one point officers had to Tase the unidentified man. The man was committed and is now getting treatment from new River. Rominger says the man did not succeed in harming himself.
