Seven Devils: Golf Course still up in the air PDF Print
Tuesday, 14 August 2007 04:32

The Town of Seven Devils is still considering the possibility of owning a golf course- and last night’s meeting did not end in a decision, one way or the other.

According to Town Manager Brad Lambert, councilmen are currently debating a financial feasibility study. Many residents have argued that a financial feasibility study is a waste of taxpayer money, and say the golf course closed because it was not profitable. The Community Group formerly known as Save the Seven Devils Golf Course disputes that fact, saying a course would be able to maintain itself without dipping into the tax pool. The tract in question is currently owned by the Cottom family. Lenny Cottom has repeatedly stated he does not want to sell the property. Should the town decide a course is feasible, it has not ruled out the possibility of acquiring the property by eminent domain.

Whether or not to conduct the feasibility study will be decided at a meeting on August 24 at 2 p.m., Lambert says.
