McCall could face 23 years PDF Print
Thursday, 09 August 2007 20:00

44-year-old David Kenneth McCall of Spruce Pine could face a maximum sentence of 23 years if convicted of the nine felonies hes charged with.

Police say McCall is responsible for the fires that gutted downtown Spruce Pine over the weekend- causing more than one million dollars in damage. The felony counts include arson, burning a commercial building and breaking and entering, officials say.

Avery County Fire Marshal David Charles Vance, who has been in communication with Mitchell officials, says theyve had quite a time, and is glad to see that progress was made in the investigation.

Destroyed in the fire were the town’s historic train depot, a thrift store, a church and a garage, among other businesses.
