Morning traffic woes on 421 PDF Print
Thursday, 09 August 2007 07:19

A two-car accident blocked traffic this morning for almost an hour on Highway 421 North.

According to North Carolina Highway Patrol, foggy conditions attributed to the wreck. A Dodge passenger vehicle had visibility issues when it struck a GMC truck in the rear. The Dodge driver, 29-year-old Deanie Taylor of Mountain City, allegedly failed to reduce his speed, Highway Patrol officials say. Rescue personnel had to extricate Taylor from his vehicle. Taylor, as well as the GMC driver, 33-year-old Adam Campbell of Vilas, were both transported to Watauga Medical Center for their injuries. Two passengers declined medical treatment. Highway patrol complimented rescue personnel on their efficiency. The scene was cleared within 45 minutes.
