600 jobs to Hickory? PDF Print
Sunday, 05 August 2007 20:00
600 jobs could be coming to Hickory- if an unidentified company decides to move to Catawba County.
It’s all dependent on whether enough people express interest in the customer service center jobs, according to economic development officials. The Catawba County Economic Development Corporation is currently gauging community interest. If the campaign is successful, the company plans to use the new building planned off Tate Boulevard. According to EDC officials, the company is pushing for more than 3,000 applicants. Should the deal fail to finalize, the information may be used to lure another company to the area. The positions are expected to involve handling incoming customer calls at a pay rate of $9-$12 per hour, plus vacations with health insurance and retirement benefits.
