ASU assault suspect at large: Police urge caution PDF Print
Monday, 30 July 2007 20:57

The man they call the Pantser is still at large- and may have been the same individual responsible for assaulting an Appalachian State University student last week.

The student was walking through Raley Parking Lot when a man approached her from behind and attempted to pull her pants down. Similar incidents last semester may mean police have a serial pants-puller on their hands. It may sound funny, but it’s a serious situation, according to Detective Eddie Rector. He has some words of advice on avoiding an encounter with the assailant.

Avoid walking alone, he says.

He cautions to plan outings ahead of time- and obtain a responsible driver. Be aware of your surroundings, and, of course-

call police if you feel unsafe.

Last week’s suspect is described as a white male with blue jeans and a gray hooded sweatshirt. He is reported to be approximately 5’9” and 160 lbs. Anyone with information is encouraged to call ASU police at (828)262-2150.
