Man hit by train in Hickory PDF Print
Monday, 30 July 2007 20:51
A Catawba man was hit by a train yesterday around noon- and is in critical condition at Frye Regional Medical Center.  Investigators believe Lester Glass was leaning too far to gauge the distance of a passing train- when part of the Norfolk Southern train struck him in the head. Severe head and hand injuries were reported. The incident occurred at the downtown railroad tracks on Main Avenue. Glass was apparently trying to cross the tracks to get to Greater Hickory Cooperative Christian Ministry. The train  was traveling from Linwood to Asheville at about 35 miles per hour.
