Two days after a murder-suicide rocked Wilkes County- a second shooting was reported in Traphill.
Deputies say 41-year-old Randall Whitley and 45-year-old Tim Potts got into an argument Saturday evening. The fight escalated until Whitley shot Potts. Potts was transported to Baptist Hospital via ambulance. The shooting occurred at approximately 7:51 near Shumate Mountain Road off Traphill Road. Whitley was taken into custody and charged with assault with a deadly weapon with intent to kill, inflicting serious injury. He is currently being held on a $50,000 secured bond. Potts was listed in “fair condition” yesterday morning. Both men have extensive criminal records according to sources within Wilkes County Sheriff’s Office.
