Millers Creek Firemen Save Parsons Memorabilia PDF Print

Millers Creek--A lightning strike from an intense thunderstorm caused damage to the museum section of the brand new Benny Parsons home in Wilkes County Friday night. Millers Creek and other Wilkes departments were called to the scene and found that the lightning hit had caused a fire in the wall of the lower portion of the new three-story house--specifically the part where Parsons' widow kept the memorabilia from his extensive and colorful racing career.  Firemen worked to keep the blaze from damaging the goods while having to tear out some significant wall sections to put out the fire and insure that the blaze was fully extinguished.  There was no dollar figure given on the damage, but losses would be high, according to fire officials.
